|2007-06-23 - Braveheart Diego fractures his leg!|
Braveheart Diego had a difficult entry into the world. A complicated 2-hour birth had him, at one point, half-in and half-out with his leg trapped inside his mother. He was eventually delivered in one piece, little worse for wear, with the help of the vet. For his patience and calm during this difficult time, he was christened 'Braveheart'
Despite checking out at the time, we believe it was as a direct result of the birth that his leg appears to have been quite weakened. He was noticed to be suddenly limping quite badly a few weeks after his birth, and a fracture of the leg was diagnosed by the vet.
We went to work, and soon Nigel managed to construct a very sturdy splint, which was approved by the vet. Diego is now well on the way to recovery. He is able to stand on it quite easily, and we hope that he will be fully recovered and running about again soon. But for now he doesn't seem totally happy - in fact he looks a bit mardy. Poor Diego!
